Student of the Month Breakfast

We were delighted to honor several of our outstanding students at a breakfast for our honorees and their parents this morning. 


Visiting Artists from Building Bridges Art Exchange

February 20, 2019

Our community partner, Petra Eiko, brought two artists from the Building Bridges Art Exchange to present to our 11th grade Museum Studies class today. Artists Antuan Rodriguez and Yuchi Estevez shared their art with us and treated us to a demonstration on how sound can affect our mood and senses. 



Creamology Fundraiser

March 1-2, 2019

Visit Creamology Cereal Bar (Burbank and Woodman) on March 1 and 2 to support the Humanitas Magnet. Just tell them that you're with Grant High School. 

See's Candy Fundraiser

Support the Humanitas Magnet when you purchase See's Candy from any student! We are selling See's spring treats for the same price as the store, but we get a portion of the profits. Delicious!

SAT and PSAT Testing on Wednesday, March 6

March 6

All eleventh graders will take the SAT and all ninth graders will take the PSAT on Wednesday, March 6. Please arrive to school no later than 7:50.

Mental Health Week: March 25-29

March 25-29

We believe our students' socio-emotional development is just as important as their academic development. That's why we've planned a week of activities to raise awareness about issues related to mental health. Resources within our school and community will be highlighted throughout the week. 


Museum Studies field trip to The Broad 

April 11

On April 11th, our 11th grade Museum Studies students took a field trip to The Broad. We took the Metro downtown, which is always a fun experience for our students. We viewed the temporary Soul of a Nation exhibit and participated in The Broad's Art + Rhyme program. 


Museum Studies field trip to The Building Bridges Art Exchange at Bergamot Station, Santa Monica

April 26

The Building Bridges Art Exchange is a Humanitas Magnet community partner. They frequently send artists in residence to visit our classrooms as guest speakers. On April 26th, we finally had the opportunity to visit the gallery ourselves. It was an unforgettable experience. 

Marine Biology Field Trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific

May 14

Our 9th graders enjoyed their field trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Highlights were touching the rays, feeding the lorikeets, and observing the seat otters. 

Humanitas Magnet Awards Night

May 23

Humanitas Magnet Awards Night is our favorite night of the year. This year, we gave out more awards than ever. It's been exciting to watch our ninth graders grow and we will miss our seniors dearly. We know they are going off to do great things!

College Classes have started

August 26

Our LAVC college classes are underway! Our 9th graders are currently enrolled in LAVC Health. Many of our upper classmen are enrolled in LAVC Communications.

College Fest at LAVC

September 14

Many of our students attended college fest, a college fair held at Los Angeles Valley college, to speak with college representatives. LAVC holds the fair every fall. 

PATHS Meeting

October 8

PATHS stands for Parents and Teachers of Humanitas Students. We will meet regularly to plan for student success. This meeting will focus on student success in LAVC classes. 

Student of the Month Breakfast

October 11

We will honor our students of the month from August and September at a special breakfast on Friday at 8:15 AM.
